Two and a half years after it launched into Early Access and broke every record in sight, Palworld is finally a finished game.
Version 1.0 dropped on July 10, 2026. Free update for everyone who already owns it. No price increase. Pocketpair called it a thank-you to a community that just hit 40 million total players, and backed it up with what might be the largest patch notes in the game's history, over 27 pages and 10,000 words, nearly crashing Steam's announcement character limit.
This is not a routine content drop. This is a relaunch.
What Actually Changed in Palworld 1.0
If you have not loaded in since early access, the game you left is not the one waiting for you. Here is what shipped on July 10.
The World Tree Is Finally Open
The single biggest mystery in Palworld since day one was the enormous World Tree visible in the distance, locked behind an energy barrier for two and a half years. Version 1.0 opens it as a full endgame region with new Pals, new bosses, exclusive ore called Paloxite, and a completely reworked main story built around what the World Tree actually is and why it matters.
Sunreach and the Sky Islands
A set of floating islands called Sunreach now hover above Palpagos, kept aloft by Paldium energy. Sunreach introduces its own civilization, exclusive Pals, new tower bosses, and Soralite ore that can only be mined up here with specialised equipment. The map has effectively doubled.
72 New Pals
The roster goes from 215 to 287 with 47 completely new Pals and 25 new variants. Highlights include the Sky Dragon, Sword Eel (yes, you can wield it as a weapon), Tree Guardian, and Giant Whale. Pocketpair also reworked Partner Skills across more than 200 existing Pals, meaning team compositions that worked in early access may need a rethink.
New Mechanics: Mutations and Awakening
Two new breeding mechanics land in 1.0. Mutations let you combine genes from Legendary Pals during breeding. Awakening uses Radiant Gems to strengthen individual Pals beyond their normal ceiling. Both systems add a depth to the endgame grind that was not there before.
Level Cap Raised to 80 and the Wing Pack
The level cap goes from 65 to 80. The Wing Pack is a new gear item that lets you glide and fly without using a party slot on a flying Pal, freeing up your full five-Pal combat team for the air. Thirteen new weapons also ship with 1.0, plus a reworked wave-based raid system and PvP mode.
The price stayed at $29.99 AUD, no launch premium, no definitive edition upsell. If you own it, you have all of this.
The Palworld Session Problem
Here is the part nobody talks about in patch note breakdowns.
Palworld is a survival crafter. The gameplay loop is base building, resource gathering, Pal management, and exploration, and it has almost no natural stopping point built into it. You sit down to grab one ore deposit and look up three hours later wondering where the evening went.
That is not a criticism. It is the entire appeal of the genre. But it is also one of the most cognitively demanding formats in gaming, because every session asks you to hold multiple systems in your head at once: base automation, Pal assignments, resource chains, build queues, combat readiness, and exploration routing. When your focus drops, your base starts falling apart, your Pal assignments drift, and you start making decisions you will undo next session.
The grind in Palworld 1.0 is longer and deeper than anything in early access. The World Tree endgame, the Sunreach sky island, the new Mutation and Awakening systems, this is a game that now genuinely rewards hundreds of hours of deliberate play.
What Staying Locked In Looks Like Across a Long Session
The pre-session routine matters more in survival crafters than in any other genre, because the decisions you make in the first thirty minutes set up the next three hours.
Buffs is built for exactly this. Clean energy from Caffeine Anhydrous and L-Theanine working together means no spike and no crash halfway through a raid. Sustained, controlled focus from the first scoop well into your session. Zero sugar. One tub lasts forty sessions.
Whether you are jumping back into an existing save or starting fresh to experience the reworked 1.0 progression, your setup deserves to match the depth of the grind you are about to put in.
The Loadout
Palworld 1.0 is live now on PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass. First paid DLC, Dawn of the Palpagos, lands July 30, so the content calendar is not slowing down any time soon.
If you want to show up to every session locked in from the first queue, grab a tub of Buffs and use code [NEVERPUNISHED] for $10 off your first 40-serve tub.
$1.50 a serve. Zero sugar. Made in Sydney. Shipped to your door faster than any international brand can clear Australian customs.
