TGR Weekly Gaming Updates June 8, 2026

Summer Game Fest 2026 just wrapped up, and it completely reshuffled the gaming roadmap for the next two years. With over 40 massive announcements, reveals, and world premieres, the timeline is officially stacked. We stripped out the filler and broke down the absolute biggest, highest-impact drops from the week that every gamer needs to have on their radar right now. Let's get into it.

The Climax of Midgar: Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Geoff Keighley closed the show with an absolute nuke. Final Fantasy VII Revelation was officially revealed, marking the third and final installment in the epic remake trilogy. Coming in 2027 to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, the trailer showed a fully assembled party taking the fight directly to Sephiroth as a meteor fills the sky. This is the massive, uncompromising open-world RPG conclusion we have been waiting for.

Survival Horror is Reborn

If you are a fan of high-stress, late-night horror grinds, your loadout just got heavy. Capcom officially announced the highly anticipated remake of the 2000 classic, Resident Evil: Veronica. It promises modernized gameplay and hyper-detailed graphics while keeping the terrifying core intact.

Immediately after, Creative Assembly dropped the trailer for Alien Isolation 2. Twelve years after the original game traumatized an entire generation, the nightmare is returning. Both titles are slated for next-gen hardware and the Switch 2.

Massive Sequels and New Worlds

The hits didn't stop with horror and RPGs. The showcase delivered a relentless stream of heavy hitters to watch out for:

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin: A dark, mature adaptation of the acclaimed comic, developed by PlatinumGames. This promises to be a brutal, high-octane character action game that shifts the TMNT tone into much heavier territory.
  • Gen Atlas: A brand new single-player open-world game from Fumito Ueda (Shadow of the Colossus), putting players in command of massive mechs on an abandoned planet.
  • Control Resonant: Remedy Entertainment is taking us back to the Oldest House, this time shifting the perspective to Jesse's brother, Dylan Faden, in a completely transformed Manhattan.

Major Expansion Updates

The live-service and fighting game communities also ate well this week. Palworld officially hits its 1.0 release, bringing massive updates to the survival title. Monster Hunter Wilds revealed a massive new Ascendance expansion, and Street Fighter 6 laid out its entire Year 4 roster (TIFA!!!!!). The games are getting bigger, and the worlds are getting more expansive.
