GTA 6 Pre-Orders Are Live: Single-Player Only at Launch, November 19 Confirmed

It is finally here. Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders went live at midnight on June 25 across all major digital storefronts and select retailers. The Standard Edition is $130 and the Ultimate Edition is $160, with November 19 locked in and the countdown to Vice City officially on.

The bombshell that came alongside the pre-order launch: GTA 6 will ship single-player only. There will be no GTA Online on day one. Rockstar has not confirmed when Online will arrive post-launch, which has split the community hard between those who are fully here for the single-player experience and those who were planning to dive straight into a new Online world from launch night.

One more confirmed detail: GTA 6 is digital-only at launch. Even the physical edition is just a code in a box, which has already prompted some retailers to refuse to stock it entirely. Anyone holding out for a disc version will need to wait, as a proper physical disc release has been rumored for later in 2026 but nothing is confirmed.

Early pre-order data from retailers has PS5 running at roughly six to one over Xbox Series X|S, which is a significant gap. All pre-orders before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack, plus one month of GTA+ for digital buyers. The Ultimate Edition adds an exclusive collection of vehicles, weapons, and apparel, including shops and a mission that will not be accessible to Standard Edition players.

Xbox Consoles Are Getting More Expensive from August 1

Microsoft has confirmed another worldwide price increase for the Xbox Series X and Series S lineup, effective August 1, 2026. The Series X 1TB disc model and Series S are both going up, and the 2TB model is being discontinued entirely. Australian pricing has not been officially confirmed yet, though based on the US increases the Xbox Series X could push past the $1,000 mark locally. Microsoft cites the ongoing global component crisis, with console storage and memory costs having more than doubled in recent times, with further increases projected through 2027.

Microsoft is also introducing Buy Now Pay Later options through Microsoft Stores, interest-free financing through Amazon for up to 12 months, and a certified refurbished console program at reduced pricing to help players through it.

The timing is notable given GTA 6 launches November 19 and will be one of the biggest console-selling titles of the generation. The community response has been significant, and it raises real questions about where console hardware is heading across the industry heading into the next generation.

Steam Summer Sale Is Live: Running Until July 9

The Steam Summer Sale 2026 kicked off on June 25 and runs through to July 9, two full weeks of deals with no flash sales. Over 4,000 titles are discounted with average reductions sitting around 45%, with the deepest cuts reaching 90% on older catalogue titles.

A few picks worth flagging: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is one of the best RPGs of 2026 so far and is hitting a strong discount this early in the year. Mewgenics from Edmund McMillen is a deeply tactical turn-based adventure that has been drawing serious praise since launch. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is also deeply discounted, a well-timed opportunity to get across it ahead of the trilogy's conclusion arriving in 2027. For those who missed them earlier in the year, Gothic 1 Remake, Resident Evil Requiem, and Crimson Desert are all making their first significant sale appearances this cycle. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are also seeing reductions in the 40% range.

The sale also coincides with Epic Games Store freebies, with RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition and Voidwrought both free to claim until July 2.

Halo Is Coming to PlayStation: Campaign Evolved Launches July 28

Twenty-five years after Halo: Combat Evolved launched as an Xbox exclusive and helped define what the console was, Master Chief is coming to PlayStation 5. Halo: Campaign Evolved launches July 28 simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5, with full cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms.

This is a ground-up rebuild of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign in Unreal Engine 5. Not a remaster, not a patch over the original engine. All-new visuals, fully rebuilt cinematics, re-recorded dialogue from the original cast, and a remastered soundtrack. The core structure of the original ten missions is preserved, with redesigned level geometry, updated enemy AI, and nine additional weapons from across the Halo series folded into the combat.

The headline addition is Operation: METEORITE, a brand new three-mission story arc set one year before the events of the original game. Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson go behind enemy lines aboard a Covenant research vessel on what starts as a straightforward smash-and-grab, which rapidly becomes anything but. The missions include space combat environments, new enemy variants, and locations that have never appeared in the Halo universe before. All thirteen missions, including Operation: METEORITE, are included in every edition at no extra cost.

Two editions are currently available. The Standard Edition launches July 28, and the Premium Edition adds five days of early access from July 23, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, and a digital short story by Troy Denning that leads into the Operation: METEORITE arc. A Collector's Edition was also available but sold out as of June 8. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers get the full game day one at no additional cost.
